Meet "Dr. Sam"
Dr. Shariki Sam is an educator, administrative strategist, and life skills coach whose mission is to empower individuals and organizations to break barriers and build purposeful futures. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Victim Studies, with a minor in Human Services, from Sam Houston State University in 2016. In 2025, she graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Trauma, and in the same year received an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Counseling from Ascend Christian University.
Dr. Sam has more than six years of experience teaching in public education, where she integrated social-emotional learning and counseling principles into the classroom to foster resilience, academic growth, and real-world readiness. Since 2020, she has expanded her impact through Breaking Barriers to Build Purpose, LLC, where she provides life skills coaching, develops curricula, and leads trainings for schools, ministries, daycares, and community organizations. Certified in CASEL’s framework for social-emotional learning and as a life coach through Bloom University, Dr. Sam equips students and professionals alike with tools for self-awareness, social awareness, communication, and responsible decision-making.
Her passion for this work is deeply personal. Having overcome her own adversities through faith, education, and resilience, she is committed to guiding others through transformation—helping individuals, families, and institutions align their systems, strategies, and mindsets for growth. Dr. Sam believes that education, when joined with counseling insight and practical life coaching, creates sustainable change that prepares learners of all ages to thrive not only academically, but holistically.
